Deep dish Dutch apple tart [Appeltaart]
Whoever coined the phrase “as American as apple pie” surely had not been to the Netherlands! A Dutch apple pie or Appeltaart differs from the classic American pie in many ways: it's baked in a spring-form pan, making it deeper; it's full of big chunks of apple and raisins flavored with cinnamon. In the Netherlands, an Appeltaart is often served at room temperature and topped with a dollop of whipped cream.
